Big brothers big camper
As I’m the ‘baby’ of the family, it was nice to catch up with my older brother who was over in mainland UK for his late ‘summer’ holidays from the Isle of Man with his wife in their VW camper. I’d seen pics before, but this was a chance to finally see his camper in the flesh!

Family reunion
They were planning on using the Britstops network for a tour around various parts of the UK for a couple of weeks road trip as their holiday, so we arranged to meet up at the local to me Carr Taylor Vineyard in East Sussex. It was a convenient and central location so that our Mum could also join us for the afternoon as well. It turned out to be a nice little family reunion of sorts. We’d not seen each other for a while so it was good to catch up briefly 🙂

007 Sven?
The Volkswagen LT was the largest light commercial vehicle panel van produced by Volkswagen (and subsequently Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as of 1996) from 1975 to 2006. Their particular conversion is an LT28 Westfalia Sven Hedin camper, is named after Sven Anders Hedin, a Swedish geographer, topographer, explorer, photographer, travel writer, and illustrator.

Westfalia interior – a home away from home
The interior conversion of the Westfalia LT28 Sven Hedin really does make a fully functional home away from home! Toilet, central heating, shower, upper and lower double beds, kitchen, living area, gas/water tanks, roof storage, solar power, with enough room so that you could stand up inside, this Westy really had all the boxes ticked!

Happy camper
That said, I still love my more minimalistic approach to camping, and won’t be changing my cool little camper anytime soon! Seeing my brother on the road in his camper did, however, get me thinking about where and when to go for my next little road trip…
