Well, who would have thought that lying around on your back all day could be such hard work! Finally after a couple of days hard graft at Resto Classics, I managed to get the first coat of the aluminium coloured Epoxy Mastic 121 applied to the underside of the bus! 🙂
It certainly looks radically different from before we started…
quite a transformation, it has certainly scrubbed up well underneath, but hopefully beauty will be more than skin deep!
According to the spec sheets, the Epoxy Mastic 121 should not flake, peel or blister – even under water. It’s supposed to resists oils, salt water and mechanical damage, so it should provide good protection under the bus and help preserve it’s life on the road!
I did my best to try to get the protective Epoxy Mastic 121 into every nook and cranny I could find a way of reaching with a brush! Top tip, make sure you wear eye protection, as gravity is not your friend when painting above your head! 😉
Funny, with the underside of the bus now in its first coat of aluminium coloured Epoxy Mastic 121, it looks rather good in the silver colour! However, I’ve committed myself to both (a) giving it all a second coat and (b) using a red oxide colour for the final coat. Now all I have to do is muster the energy and enthusiasm to do it all over again!
