Re-fitting the firewall
As part of the re-fit process, it is time to reinstate the firewall back into the engine bay, taking care not to damage the paint of course! Also took the opportunity of putting in a new German quality engine seal rubber at the same time whilst the engine was out.

Clean and tidy firewall
All in, safe and sound and looking good. Seems like good progress is being made. Can’t help but think that something is missing from the big hole in the back of the camper? What could it be…

Mechanical refit
It will be time to start doing the mechanical re-fit shortly, going over everything and making sure all is good and up to scratch so the VW Early Bay Camper can get its first-ever MOT certificate and thus get its UK registration age-related number plate!

Stock or custom?
Rather than the full-on custom route I went with my previous 23 Window Split screen bus with the monster 2.4 type 4 engine with Porsche cooling and vented Porsche 944 brakes front and rear, this time I am keeping things simple, and keeping things stock!
The engine that will be going in will be a pretty much stock (a couple of minor tweaks) VW air-cooled 1600cc twin port engine!
