Christmas by the sea
Making the most of our socially distanced Christmas, we decided to get out for a bit in the afternoon and have tea (and a mince pie) by the sea in the camper. Always good to make the most of the weather, enjoy a bit of fresh air and a beautiful view with some golden hour sunshine whilst listening to one of Lornas Christmas present CDs. Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best!

Nice to watch the sun go slowly down on a very different Christmas. Our first without being able to spend it with our kids. Hopefully next year we can all be together as normal!

Happy New Year?
Well, 2020 finally came to an end. Calling it a strange year would be an understatement. Feels strange to be living through a genuine moment of human history with this Covid-19 pandemic at the moment. So now we’ve finally got into 2021, have you got you FREE vdubxs calendar up yet?

Hessisch changes
The one thing I was really looking forward to in 2021 was the forthcoming Hessisch Oldendorf VW show in Germany. It has to be my favourite VW show. As it only happens once every four years, there is plenty of lead time to build up the anticipation of the event.

Although I had managed to book my ticket for it last year, unfortunately, because of the concerns surrounding the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Hessisch show has now had to be postponed to 2022 now. Understandable with the circumstances. It’s a show that attracts visitors and vehicles from all around the world, so better o be safe than sorry. At least my ticket remains valid for 2022!

See Schwimmwagens in action
My 2021 calendar wasn’t exactly full of events, so losing Hessisch will be a real shame.

No go Ninove
Once I heard that Hessisch had been postponed, it was no great surprise to hear that the earlier air-cooled event at Ninove in Belgium was also going to be postponed to 2022 as well. So no UK Cruise to Ninove event again this year either.

Subsequently, the European Bugin show and VolksWorld shows have also been cancelled for 2021. Is suspect that it might be a sign of things to come for most UK and European 2021 VW events and shows, unfortunately.

Ben Pon 2022
So with major VW shows getting postponed to 2022 now, the Ben Pon Barndoor gathering in the Netherlands could be even more popular than ever!

It’s another show that only takes place once every four years. So if this still takes place, could end up being the basis of an epic road trip to take in both Ben Pon and Hessisch Oldendorf in the same year! Now that really would be something worth waiting for.

Aircooled adventures 2021
It’s not all gloom and doom then. I’m also working on some special treats for vdubxs.com subscribers this year, so there should be plenty to look forward to…
