So Ninove 2022
After the postponement of 2021, it was hoped that Ninove 2022 could be back on. This would have been great news for all that love this fantastic event. If you’ve never been before, check this link out to get a flavour of this fun weekend event that takes place in the Belgian town of Ninove.
A new provisional date was even confirmed for 12th March 2022. Excitement was growing. It was great to have something in the diary to look forward to. Then came along the new Omicron variant of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Things started changing really quickly, and I guess it was no real surprise that unfortunately, Ninove 2022 has once again been postponed. Hopefully it will now be taking place in 2023. Better to be safe than sorry. So those that have been preparing their rides for the event, the only good news s that you now have a bit more time to finish them off!
Feel free to subscribe to the vdubxs.com site and I will make sure any updates get posted here for you. In the meantime, here are a few highlights to remind you of the fun it will be once it does take place once again!
The UK Cruise to Ninove is where things normally take off in the UK. Anyone is welcome to become a part of. Normally everyone meets up at the Bonjour services in Calais for croissants, coffee and a catch-up before embarking on a leisurely drive to the destination point of the Witkap Brewery in the centre of Ninove.
Its a great venue to catch-up with people and see a wide variety of cool air-cooled rides. Being a brewery, there is also a chance to sample some great Belgium beer and get yourself a commemorative beer glass for the event.
The town of Ninove is very supportive and welcoming to the whole event. Camping in buses on the streets of Ninove can be part of the fun. It’s not obligatory, lots stay in various hotels or bed and breakfasts in the area. However, I don’t drive a camper van just to end up staying in a hotel!
After the initial gathering at the Brewery Slaghmuylder, the main event takes place in and around the town centre streets the following day. This attracts people from a wide range of European countries.
The town centre and surrounding streets get taken over for the day and it has a real festival feel to it all. It’s great fun wandering around taking everything in. Hidden gems can be found tucked away on every street.
There’s a real mixture of air-cooled classics that can be found parked up in the towns streets for the event. Plenty of shiny paint, plenty of patina perfection, so a bit of something for everyone. I still remember the time I saw this drop dead gorgeous Split screen Crew cab. Absolutely stunning vehicle!
Is 2023 the year?
Work commitments had stopped me going for the last few events, but I was hopeful it might have been different this year. Unfortunately, it looks like I’ll have to wait until next year to see if I can be rollin’ into Ninove once again…
