Progress continues… as all of the paint continues to be removed, a few more areas that will need attention are revealed.
Ideally we’re aiming to keep as much of the original OG VW steel as possible, so small areas of damage will get cleaned up and cut back to areas of solid metal ready for new metal to be welded back in place. However, some areas are too far gone, then replacement panels will be used and welded back in place to make good the area.
Around the back gutter areas where the fixed part of the Westafalia roof sat, water/debris has been allowed to collect/sit and has caused some perforation in the gutter areas…
Some poor quality previous repairs will need to get sorted out correctly
and this front section of the lower nose will need replacement!
Some areas once cleaned up are solid, so they can be prepped and painted with primer
Good OG VW metal is kept wherever possible, so the dented front nose gets pulled back into shape, whilst in the process, ending up looking like the character from the 1980’s horror film ‘Hellraiser’!
