Summer on the way…
OK, so I know it is only just the beginning of the New Year, and January seems a long way away from the glorious days of summer, but it is never too early to start getting your ready VW Split screen camper all sorted and ready for the summer sun and plenty of road trips!
Although the Ninove event in mid-March cannot really be classified as a ‘summer’ event, it has helped give me more of a focus on getting a small list of things sorted before heading off to Belgium.
First I need to have a good sort through the van and get a few bits tidied up, but whilst taking the rear interior cushion covers off for a wash, I could not help myself and give the cargo door-mounted Canterbury Pitt cooker a quick once over and set up the cargo door canopy and pretend that summer was nearly here!
Canterbury Pitt cooker
The cargo door-mounted cooker is the heart of having a great camper. Having the ability to pull over and make a cup of tea or cook a meal whilst out and about is what it’s all about for me.
The Canterbury Pitt door-mounted cooker was one of the original features that really attracted to me to the camper in the first place, I loved its simple utility functionality.
The lower section door folds down to reveal an additional storage area for any cooking utensils, mugs, tea bags or any other condiments you might want to include. Having any extra storage is a good thing!
Cooker clean up required
The top door lifts up and the main Canterbury Pitt cooker unit folds down in its aluminium lined cooking enclosure. Although it has a grill unit built-in, at the moment it’s missing a grill pan, so this is something I need to source to add to the unit to complete it and increase the healthier option of grilling certain foods rather than simply frying them!
Set up for camping
On top, it has a simple 2 ring layout for cooking, which is more than enough to come up with an array of meals on the go! I just need to give it all a proper cleanup, source a small grill pan and we’re good to go!
